Oh man, I love Fall. My favorite time of year. I couldn’t be happier that it has arrived here in St. Louis. There’s not much I don’t love about Fall, but there are a million things I do love. Here’s a fun list of Things to Love About Fall.
The crisp mornings.
The rolling, foggy, misty mornings.
The changing leaves crunching beneath my feet. The colors, the fiery reds, oranges and yellows of Fall.
Just a few things to love about Fall. But what else is there?
The sound of a crackling firepit on the patio. The warm glow from the fireplace, the sweet smell of smoke lingering on whatever you’re wearing.
The clothes, oh how I love Fall clothes. Soft, wool scarves, big, fuzzy socks, big oversized sweaters and jeans, and boots, oh the boots.
Pumpkins growing on long winding vines, hayrides and chilly afternoons at the park.
Still not convinced there are things to love about Fall?
The sticky, sweet flavor of melted marshmallows from making s’mores over a campfire.
The soft glow of candles that smell like Fall.
Big fluffy blankets and a pile of books waiting to be read.
Baking sweet treats and hearty chili’s, pumpkin spice everything, apple pies and cinnamon muffins. Big pots of soup and stew, wafting through the house and drawing everyone to come try a spoonful as it sits and cooks all day.
A quiet night, snuggling, wrapped with loved ones in a blanket, sipping hot cocoa with the windows open and the cool night air flowing through the house that chills you, but perfectly.
Really? Are you still not convinced? I have more things to love about Fall!
Sitting on the living room floor and enjoying a fireplace picnic and a glass of wine after a long day.
Weekends filled with caramel apples, hot kettle corn, hot chocolate and coffee at festivals you attend only because you’ve been stuck inside all summer so you’re ready to be outside.
Long walks in the woods, crunching leaves and rushing water from a nearby river.
Bright stars above in the cold night air.
The first look at the Cardinal in the tree as the leaves fall and you can imagine snow covering those limbs. Soon, soon… but not too soon.
I want to revel in this time and not have it gone too soon. I love St. Louis because when we are lucky, we get all four seasons. Fall is definitely my favorite.
