We’ve all been there before. You have a friend heading over for a visit, or a neighbor that just pops by or relatives coming in from out of town and of course you’re excited.
But then you notice your bathroom. The one they will use. The bathroom is a mess!
In my house, I have a teenager that uses our guest bathroom. There is no telling what it will look like at any given point of the day. It’s time to get creative and in only 5 minutes or less you can clean that bathroom by following these 5 tips.
Tip #1: Clean away the clutter. Grab a box, basket or container. Grab every single thing that you don’t want in that bathroom.
Extra towels, empty toilet paper rolls, clothing, bottles or containers that are just sitting out collecting dust, empty shampoo bottles or kleenex boxes, whatever.
Yes, you are making a bigger mess in a container or box but you can sort through it all later. We are just trying to get this bathroom cleaned and quickly. Stash the box in your closet in your bedroom or the garage or anywhere it won’t be seen.
You can get it later, and if your kids are looking for something, just point them in the direction of the box, but honestly, it can wait.
Tip #2: Hang towels. Re-hang towels if they need to stay in there, otherwise grab some new ones and hang them.
My son tends to just toss his towel over the rack when he’s done. I know my folding job on the after isn’t perfect, but it sure looks a lot better than it did.
Sometimes clean, fresh towels make a big difference in a bathroom to make it look better.
Tip #3: Clean the Toilet. Grab a toilet brush and go to town on that toilet.
My go-to toilet brush is the new Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber. It scrubs the messes you’ve been leaving behind.
I seriously love this thing. It has this flexing head design that allows maximum contact with the toilet bowl and it reaches messes under the rim that other products miss. I love that!
Tip #4: Quick Floor Sweep. Grab a dustpan and quickly sweep the floor up. You can even use it on the countertop, back of the toilet, etc. We use our little brush to do it, because it’s small and well, the bathroom floor is small so it works perfectly.
We just do a quick sweep up and then usually dampen a washcloth to wipe over the surface real quick.
Tip #5: Stop the Stress!
Yep, that’s a tip! It’s super easy to keep up with your bathroom if you take these 5 minutes every day or every other day to keep up.
But also, once you’ve done the things I’ve listed so far, you can breathe a sigh of relief, because your bathroom is decent enough for a guest to use it.
Remember, we are all human and life gets in the way.
Chances are, their bathroom probably looks worse than yours does now!
So, do you have any tricks to get your bathroom cleaned up quickly?
